JawsThe Borax Lake Chub is tough whatever else he might be but his solitary reign in Borax Lake and environs was nearly ended by geothermal development as well as irrigation. http://www.fws.gov/oregonfwo/EndSpp/FactsFish/Borax.htm Dwarf desert minnow? Seems he was threatened more by heating as the cooler waters were drawn off Borax Lake than by cooling. Whatever the case Borax Lake was put off-limits to geothermal development that had been attempted by Chevron. Chevron had also been active at UGTH's Neal Hot Springs. There has to be some convenient way of making the calculation but I am too lazy to look. It appears that Jaws is maybe some 150-180 miles as the crow flies from Neal Hot Springs so UGTH should be safe from that beast. I had the odd notion Jaws was closer though not a threat. What you do seem to have is some indication that Oregon won't be as almighty difficult to deal with as proposed by others. UGTH may have done themselves proud again by building on previous efforts. Nevada Geothermal's Crump Geyser well to the west will probably lie fallow for a very long time yet while a prospective Neal Hot Springs power plant is already being proposed for a contract with Idaho Power.
